Default Expedition or Offroading

If you had a choice between offroading your LR on a regular basis or Expedition what would it be.

Offroading in back country remote areas.

Or

Long distance expeditions to the farthest part of the world.

Taking the Pan American highway and traveling thru the remotest terrain to make to the tip of South America.

Or take a journey across the Ocean of Fire in the Gulf to the Sinai Canal across to the pyramids of Giza and across Northern Africa to a cafe in Casablanca.

Or would you cross the Australian continent starting at Melbourne ru along the coast and finally thru the heart of Australia in heat of Coober Pedy and across the entire outback to the shores Of Perth.

Or would you take it easy and just Travel from Solihull to the Rock Of Gibraltar across the pyrenees along the coast of Spain.

I prefer exploring to 'wheelin' personally. Some people are content running the same trail, bashing over the same big rock, or just splashing some mud at the same old places. It's far more fun to go somewhere you've never been, relying on the capabilities of your vehicle (and your training) to ensure that you can get through whatever comes your way.

I'm with Steve. I'd like to do the exploring.
My dream is to drive across Austrailia.

I prefer just finding a place to wheel, and tear it up, and potentially get stuck.

But if someone covered my entire expedition trip, whatever, wherever it is, I would do it.

Definitely expedition across the land without any paved road involved if possible.

A day trip is fine, overnight damn good, a week away brilliant, a month fantastic, anything longer pure ecstasy.

Did a 6 week trip round Oz on a motorbike back in '85, had countless trips round Europe on bikes in the 70's and early 80's.

Could easily spend months travelling in the Landy if financies permitted

Because of chores, animals and family, I can't get away for long periods like I could when younger. I prefer the kinds of trips where you use Topo maps, grid squares, and see where the dotted lines lead me. I prefer a trip where you don't keep revisiting the same trail, bog, whatever more than once. A known starting point, ending point, and everything in betwen an adventure. Plowing through the same old mud hole time after time is ok for my wifes nephew and his jeep, but it gets a little long in the tooth for me. My truck has to last me the rest of my life, so slow and easy is the way I do it today.
I camel trophy by way of videos now, but Tiara Del Fuego would have been a great ending spot

all of the above. although I've been thinking about a month long expedition through Centeral America, that would be rather fun.

Expeditition of course!! I love the idea of going somewhere new, and meeting new people.

I also love the idea of being sustainable. I did loads of survival training with the RAF, but never really used any of it. To go out somewhere I have never been before, and come back a different route months later has an enormous appeal.

Exp for sure. Something about those beautiful views and taking in the sites makes it much more fun than bashing the hell out of your truck everyweekend. While doing short trails are fun. Long trails are better

Hey Moses, on business almost every other month, for playing about the same, and frequently pass into Oman when we are driving around near the border of UAE.

You been there?
