Garland823,
Good question. I have a simple answer. I test drove them all including an ML 55 (which I could not afford and my friend now owns). By the way, all it has over the Disco is pure raw speed…..nothing else. I prefer the Landy’s handling, its kick-ass robustness, its quirks, its profile, it’s mystique, its regal bearing and its imperious seating (its ok to feel imperious now and again……..not in the same sense as a “Remington” typewriter however..that will only make people think you are a bloody impenitent tart ). Sorry I digress….I could go on but I suspect you have caught my drift. It’s a well heeled well rounded entity…. Truly nothing else is a Landy …… No other truck bar none…is all that.
Damn …..this soap box is getting slippery…..

i agree entirely. my dad will not be convinced to help me buy a disco to go with his own(which he generously shares with me, but i want my own for various reasons) and it makes me kind of sad to think how few of the 94's and 95's, which are my favorites, will be left by the time i'm on my own and can buy whatever i can afford. thinking about alternatives is not a happy prospect haha. soooo...anybody wanna maybe buy one for safekeeping until i graduate college and can afford it?

My girlfriend just bought an '02 X5... (we spent a month looking for a nice one) and it's great! Drives great and has that awesome BMW quality. While it is no match off road to a Landy, she will not be using it off road....

I have had 4 BMW's and they are one of the best cars in my mind. I am currently thinking about building/buying an E34 M5 Touring.

my friend drives an 04 330xi...as his first car, which i dont entirely agree with...but man, is it nice. it's fast too. i would have lost my license long ago and many times over if i had it.

FYI: i will likely be selling my wife's '98 D1 in the next few months. i know it's not a manual, but it's been a good vehicle and is in good condition. i'll post it here - we'll probably ask around $6K.
