Was out doing some geocaching the other day and if anybody here used their LRs for geocaching or benchmark hunting? Just curious.

I had been wanting to - just haven't found a geocache spot for it close by yet.

I'm an advocate of geocaching and benchmark hunting, did wonders for my marriage believe it or not, and think the Land Rover-type ideology and geocaching mindset go hand in hand.
I'll keep my diatribe meter in check though, if anybody has any questions about it let me know and I'll be happy to share. |

Yup pulled right up to one the other week, I was the FTF too which was a bonus!!
People over here in the UK are begining to set out Geocaches that are along Trails and Lanes so you can combine both wheeling and geocaching!! Is a damn good idea IMHO! Plus did you know that there are LR Travel Bugs??? I only found out the other day!! I really must buy myself a GPS too, am doing it by maps at the moment!

Have never seen LR travel bugs! They use a lot of Jeep ones here. I'm still on my hunt for some LR matchbox cars to use as swag but no joy so far.
Geobloke it sounds like the UK has it together as far as that goes. I was in Alaska for three years with the service and that's how it was there as well; drive up the side of a mountain on some back road, pass the Dall Sheep, get out and hike the last five hundred feet and there's the cache! Incredible. Now I'm wishing I were still there as North Carolina is just a tad different! |

I haven't been in a while, but I used to geocache nearly every day when I was in college. Turns out there was a Geo-rover D90 model that had been almost around the world, and it was hidden within 1 mile of my home the week before I found out about it. By the time I got there someone had already moved it. I never did it with my rover, besides parking it in the park and hiking into the woods. I did find one trailside once, and I wasnt even looking for it. I think this spring I'm going to get a new GPS so I'll pick it back up again.
