Default Good Bye Disco 2..good bye

It is with mixed feelings that I must announce today will be the last day my Land Rover will be taking the daily commute with me. We've been through a lot together, both good times and bad. Through the thick and thin, it's always been there for me. On the eve of the largest snow fall in Minneapolis in eight years, I must bid a fond fairwell to my Zambezi Silver colored friend.

Obviously, this is all pending on the almighty dollar, but it appears the stars are aligned. The new owner is scheduled to pick up the truck tomorrow morning, in roughly 12-15 inches of freshly fallen snow. <sigh...>

Goodbye Disco2, goodbye....

The only way that I'll justify getting rid of the Disco, is if you got a G, that I know you had spoken about before...otherwise..YOU SUCK.....

haha, I'm messin man. Sorry to hear about it! =( Atleast DIIs are all over the place and value is down a bit, so it wont cost TOO much if you wanna get back into one!

You'll still be around won't you!

I'll still be around!

It didn't make sense having all these cars, so I am daily driving the QX56 now. My priorities have shifted a bit since the birth of our son a couple months ago. My thoughts now are to pick up an air cooled P car (circa 96)... You know, when you need to take a break from diaper duties. That and I am in need of a larger boat, so I will really use the 8900lb towing capacity of the QX56. Yes, it "ain't no Land Rover" but in all honesty, besides up at our lake home, I rarely have the time to go out and really use the Land Rover how is was meant to be used.

The new owner is VERY excited, so I'll have to turn him onto LRO as to keep my baby in the family still.

First: CONGRATS on the new Young'un!

Why are Y'all bailing on the rovers??
I haven't owned mine for as long as some of you, but they're the only vehicles I've ever owned that seem to be worth the trouble they're reputed to be!

I guess I decided they're going to be my "hobbys'" and don't mind putting $$ into them even for major repairs. Oddly enough! My wife didn't even blink when told she needed new head gaskets and how much it was going to cost. She just said, "I'm not driving anything else! Let's get it done." She won't even drive our ford for the two days it'll take to fix her rover. She actually plans on taking those days off work. (Now THAT'S dedication!).

......Or am I missing something here in my ignorance?

I'm on my third Land Rover, 2000 then 2003 Disco then 2005 RR and I'm here to tell you!!!

You guys have got it all wrong.....family priorties are 1st, BUT

That should just be used to rationalize a newer, bigger, better Land Rover,
Qx whatever??????? for a few dollars more !

This was your chance to buy a R A N G E R O V E R

"I know it's a lot of money sweetie, but nothing is safer for the offspring than a RR"

"If it's safe enuff for the Queen baby, it's gotta be safe enuff for our lucky kids....lol

Good luck ......we know you'll buy another one soon....probably an older Disco to mod and keep up at the lake.....lol

Ish,

Ahh yes.. I have drooled countless hours over a RRS SC. The problem is interior cargo space. I have (2) 100+ lb Labs, the baby, and all our gear to bring up to the lake home.

Now, the QX didn't have the sticker price of the RRC but it did have the interior volume space and the towing capacity that we needed. While it may not be an offroader my priorities have gone away from that aspect mainly because of my lack of free time with the hobbies we already have. I'd LOVE to own another one down the road, but this time it needs to be an open top version

Tell me about you Carrera. Pros/Cons I've been eyeing up a 96 Turbo for several months now.

Cheers,

Ryan
