Oh thats right! Jeez, I totally missed that. I dont recall ever reading an LRM.....I think I have seen them in the stores before though....I have one mag of a UK LR mag that I like; LRO...hehe....Land Rover Owners International....it seemed a bit too quick of a read.....the issue I have is weighted tward Series LRs, but I liked the writing. They had a race using all of the LR's....diesel and petrol vs. for some.....and gave preformance specs, and race times, speed, etc.. They also talked about the RRS, and had a story on how Solihill (spel??) the LR plant will be shut down by ford by 2010, and about the new defenders. A good read, but also expensive at $8/issue.
$60/year is still pricy, but its better then the other one.....perhaps I will buy a copy......if not I guess I'll just stick to my PopSci and PopMechs....I love those! |

Two thumbs up! I LOVE IT! Very classy, lots of charm, and I fell in love with the Sante Fe/New Mexico theme. I ordered it. This is going right next to my Architectural Digest Magazines in my office!

Keptin,
LRM is still a "UK Based" mag. But, they have a NA edition out and it's slowly growing. It's up to ~20 pages of North American content. They had 12-pages on the MAR alone. It has some pretty good Tech articles too. The exchange rates suck so bad now, and that's why the Mag is a little pricey. All in All, it's my favorite LR mag.... |

LRL had some good stuff, and also had a lot of content I wasn't interested in... I'm personally not looking at it as a replacement to my LRM, perhaps something in addition for it.
I'm in full support of LRL though, even if only 25% of it is offroading, figure that a nationally distributed magazine like that will get some attention from LRNA and dealerships, and hopefully it'll do us some good. The one article about SEMA was great.. I passed by it a few times just wondering wtf they had that ugly RR there and the Volvo.. finally read it, and it basically said "Bad showing with Land Rovers, they had one blinged out rangy.. it was so bad, that even Volvo showed us up." For the purchase price of a subscription, I don't see how you can go wrong with it.

Remember guys, this is just the frist issue. Of course theres always room for improvement but it will take time. For a first issue i think it was good. I will be getting a 2 year subscription.

I recieved my complimentary copy yesterday. It seems like a pretty high quality publication, but a bit too much like a travelog, with it's articles barely containing the most vague reference to Land Rover. Apart from John Robison, known to most anyone who frequents the RN BBS, and perhaps Sue Mead, the contributing writers, for the most part, don't seem to have too deeprooted a connection to Land Rovers, let alone automobiles in general. One professes to have begun his offroading interest from learning to drive in a '42 Jeep CJ2-A, interetesting since the CJ2-A didn't come out until 1946. One of the LR3 reviewers says "he's been an owner "pretty much since [Land Rovers] first came into the country in the late 70s..." LRL editors take note; Land Rovers came into the country in the mid sixties, and were gone by
1974, not to return until 1987. I guess I'm being picky, but at least the writers and editors of the better known 'British 4' get the 'LR cred' by knowing their Land Rovers. The Publishers state, right from the outset, " It is not a shop manual" That's OK too, and I'm sure we're not all into just 'working' on our trucks. I, too, enjoy going to unique and scenic places, but for me, it isn't all about the destination, as much as it is the 'getting there' and what I got there in. I guess I'll hold off abit in taking out a subscription. |

Terry- I agree. I found a lot of factual errors, including my own name being combined with someone else's name... making them both wrong. It seems detached from Land Rover 'enthusiasm' and more geared towards conspicuous consumption.

I would agree with Terry & Steve.
In support of LRM, I've been a subscriber since they came out with the North American ed. (NA editor lives in PA and travels everywhere for articles). Their coverage is more club, trail riding, event type stuff--which is what I want to see. Most of the time, I know of someone in the story---and Hank's even been on the cover! I still get LRO & LRW on occasion cuz I need a quick fix, but I dont sub to those! ![]()
