Default headers and such

does anyone know whether that be by experience or by word of mouth if using header insulation wrap has any affect on a vehicles performance? supposedly the insulation is to be wraped completely around the headers and this is supposed to do two things. It will keep the heat in the headers instead of letting that heat come out into the engine bay. so the temp level in the pipes is higher which means faster flowing exhaust. also the engine bay is cooler so the temperature of the air taken in by the engine is slightly lower. ive seen the wrap for only $1 per foot, so if it does work it would not cost much money at all.

Interesting...If it works it would be something to look into to....Sounds like it would be relatively cheap.

I have heard of the wraps but I think they might also hold moisture and cause the Manifolds to rust faster. They have similar products for intake systems as well.

Yes it does work in the described ways
Yes they also have ones for intake
Yes they will hold mud and moisture and rust your headers

Answer is ceramic coat all the benifits none of the problem's

Negative is ceramic coat costs more than cheap headers and unless your going janspeed I wouldn't waste the money, the difference it makes isn't enough to warrant the expense al least for me. get a dual electric fan setup

I just had some Rover manifolds jet-hot coated... I'll get some pics, they look great!
I use header wrap on my race car- it has to be changed every year or so and it a pain to deal with. I doubt the benefit, if any, would be worth the hassle on a Disco. The stock manifolds would be nearly impossible to wrap properly because of the shape anyway I would think.
