Default Heated windshield????

Anyone know what year/ model Disco they started with it....what option package would it have come with or was it a stand alone option....how do you tell if it has it???

I know. i know...lots of questions...i think it´s a great idea if you live in a 4 season zone (with snow of course)...pros and cons???(other than replacement price) thanks, Dean (still getting things sorted for my purchase....hopefully won´t be to much longer)

2000?
Cold Weather Package, I think it's a standalone also.
You can see hundreds of little threadlike lines going vertical through your windshield... it's kinda annoying.
I have a small crack in mine and the replacement cost without labor is $1200, in a nomal windshield they can drill and fill it, this windshield can't be fixed without breaking some lines in the glass.

I believe many of the new year D1's had it, most likely with the cold weather package, I know 99 DII's and newer have it.
You can tell by looking closely at the windshiled for very fine verticulat wires about 10 to the inch, or look and see if there is a switch on the dash.

I think I have the cold weather package, cause one button shows the icon of the front windsheild and wiggly arrow pointing up it, and this is not part of the HVAC control panel. Used it once in December when I first got my RRC, and it seemed to work nicely.

Drive a little south. I had mine replaced here in Wilmington for around $700.00.

It may be worth the drive if insurance doesn't fix it. I only have about a 4mm crack, and the guy at the glass place says it may never spread out. Thanks!

I am not sure what you mean, but the windshield is a solid laminate glass with hair line wires in between the glass.

Some of the heated windshields that I have worked on are a solid laminated electro type layer (no lines at all) not repairable and extremely expensive.....in the 5k range....
