Talking Highlight of the day!...

So I'm driving home, on the way back from my girl's house earlier. It was already dark being that it was 8ish. Im passing a traffic light headed north on LeJune avenue and a block up the road, I'm about to pass a not so common shape...the shape was heading south and about to make a left so it was waiting for me to pass. As I pass the dark shape my keen peripheral vision picks up something ANY Land Rover nut or perv would automatically recognize... the word "Camel"..... I begin to press on the brakes to turn my head but when I do, the dark shape is already turning into a street. A block ahead, I gun it and make a right, go around the block, and try to catch the shape at the four way stop. I make it to the stop sign before it does, but I hold and wait for it to near so I can get a better look... not wanting to seem like a weirdo (although by now it already seems like it) I begin to move foward and as I do, I see the shape of an ARB front bumper. By now I have already determined what vehicle it was...

I pass slowly but because I was now in the path of the vehicle's headlights, I could not make any form of eye contact with the driver...I continue my path and what do you know...it turns and follows behind!...then I turn left to test the follow, AND IT DOES TOO!... So I stop and pull over on the side of the street, infront of someone's home. I come to a lightly squealing stop ( my brakes are nuts ), and it does too!...right next to my truck.

By now, I'm laying sight on the most kitted RRC I have ever seen in person! The window rolls down, an interior light is turned on, and out of truck comes a friendly greeting..."Hi there!" Becuase I had totally gizzed my pants by now, I slowly say... "DUDE...HI!"

The gentleman's name, Ozzie...the vehicle, a 1992 Range Rover Classic Vogue ready for world travel!!!

Ozzie says to me..."dude saw the Snorkel and I just knew!" I say, "I know man! I gunned it and turned into the streets to meet up! Thanks for stopping. The name's JC, pleasure to meet ya"...hand shake.

I won't go over the conversation we had about the specs, as we were there for about 20 minutes just going through the stuff on his truck!..lol ( not much to see on mine but he really liked the Scorpion Racing bumper ).

What a truck that is!....see for yourself...

The things that stand out...
  • engine's been replaced with a 4.2
  • it has some sort of heat extractor for the engine
  • long range fuel tank that needs no skid plate
  • TT lockers front and rear
  • Safety Devices internal Roll Cage!!!
  • and MUCH MUCH MORE!

Turns out he's the guy that put the show "Miami Ink" together for TLC, is a photographer, and a 4x4 shop owner... http://www.ozziesoffroad.com/

We exchanged numbers and hope to meet at the FLRC rally later in Oct.

What a day!

I see plenty of D90s and the odd series 3, even a D110 once in a blue moon, but nothing that cool. Plenty of D2s,RRs, RRSs, and LR3s trucking around rugrats to soccer games though.

Indeed it does my friend! Some of the greatest moments during or after a long work day.
