In the last week i started to hear a ticking sound and now it louder.
i drove the car to the dealership and the sound was'nt as loud but thay said it's my headcasket and my oil cooler parts needed to be replaced. Do that sound right? the bill is $3400.00 . what can i do? Last edited by willark : 10-08-2004 at 09:51 PM. |

Difficult to say, given the description "a ticking sound, getting louder", it could be the clock! However, if the dealer has diagnosed a head gasket, then I guess it must be coming from the top end of the engine. I have never heard a noisy blowing head gasket on a water cooled engine, so I would have a guess at exhaust manifold gasket. Does it get louder with engine load? Why would the oil cooler need replacing? Does the cooler itself leak or is it just the pipes and connectors that need tightening?Ask your dealer to explain his diagnosis and take someone with you who knows about engines! This does not sound right. ![]() |
