Default Land Rover bombs out in customer service survey

I read an article today where Land Rover apparently was woeful in its customer care survey.

It went on to mention that if you had a Land Rover, you had a 46% chance of putting in a warranty claim.
This was followed by Jeep with 48%.

I will try and locate this survey but was wondering if this is still the case with the newer FL2, Disco 3 , RR Sports now?

They had a thing on the news here in Oz about a brand new Jeep bursting into flames. Apparently Jeep is the most complained about vehicle to Consumer Affairs here.

Land Rover getting a bad rating on customer service?

Oh no!! Tell me it's not true!

(I think 1947 was the last year that LR didn't rank last in reliability or customer service)

Ryan, it's 2007, remember? Land Rover moved all the way up to 2nd from the bottom in Consumer reports, but as muddy says, who cares?

I'll say this, everyone has a different experience when patronizing a business. I've visited three dealerships for scheduled maint., warranty work, and installing accessories. All three treated me very well.

Now, McDonald's on the other hand, is nothing but a piss poor run operation if you ask me. I had such poor service there that it has all but dissappeared from my radar. I think some places just see you coming...

Am I missing something??? Why the who cares comment?
As a potential Land Rover purchaser, ( I have paid a deposit and placed an order) I need appropriate feedback and not an open ended remark.
I am trying to work out where to service the car and what possible issues I might need to look in the near future.....;(

No offense to the poster.
I know for me, one day when I am ready to purchase a new(ish) LR, that will be of no consern to me.

Dutchie, Don't take the "Who Cares" comment the wrong way, it wasn't directed at you in a negative manner. The point is, this is an enthusiast's website, and our love for the Land Rover vehicles, in general, makes us somewhat less reliable as a consumer qualityreporting service. While there are many members driving newer trucks, for the most part, the group is made up of people who like the extremely capable ability, and put up with the idiosyncrocies.
The reports which place Land Rover (consistantly) in the bottom percentiles are based upon numbers of complaints by NEW car purchasers to either the dealerships, or the follow-up surveys post WARRANTY visit.
This is an international site, and being so, many of the members are driving Land Rovers not even sold in the US. In fact, if you asked the average person visiting a Land Rover dealership for the first time, they wouldn't even know what a series truck or a Defender is. But the undeniable truth is that what the marque has to offer the US driver are only 4 models, all thirsty gasoling powered and they each have their known faults. When a new car purchaser gets a $45K truck, they don't expect to have problems, but when they do, they aren't wrong to complain about the problem. Then there is the other undeniable truth; the American car buyer today is generally a very vocal complainer anyway.
We have 7 land Rovers in the family. The newest is my wifes 2003, and it's been her least reliable car, but also her most fun car. All of the others are well past their warranty days, and we use them, and break them, with love and affection and gusto. So when you see these reports, think to yourself if you bought the truck because you love the marque, or just want a reliable kid hauler, completely without faults. If you're the latter, I suggest you reconsider, perhaps you're the Lexus driver in waiting.

As for my self, I get good service here considering. If you want a new Land Rover there is only one place on the island you can get one. I was a little peeved at the sales man who sold me my newest Rover, but he had me over a barrel, and we both knew it. I just wish he would be a little more honest to me consider I know he is full of it. As for the parts department and service. The parts people know me and many of the mechanics know me and my trucks. The service manager is always tiring to pull a fast one on me every time I come in. As for the service. I think they need to bring back the coffee pots in the waiting area. And have a soda machine close. And have free sodas for people that are buying a new vehicle. When I bought my newest truck. I had to buy my own soda. Other stealer ships the sales man will get you one for free if he knows he has the sale in the bag.
