Hey guys I need all the help I can get on converting my 2000 Disco 2 into accepting 2003 style headlamps. I know it's been done more than once, it ain't that difficult, yet it seems to be the best kep secret on the Net. The one site that dealt with this topic is now misteriously gone. Any help/info is appreciated, thanks.

It's not hard- the hardest part is the wiring. The 03/04 has the low beams staying on with high beams- all four lit at once. The earlier ones the low beams turn off when the high beams come on. Other than that, there's a little drillin required. The grille can be either swapped or modded to fit with the trim under the headlamps. On the earlier ones, that's attached to the grille- 04/04 it's attached to the headlamp.
Oh yeah- make sure not to get the wrong lamps- lots of people sell the non-DOT versions on ebay and stuff. You need the US spec versions.

Thanks for the info. I guess I don't really know what I'm going into, but I'll do it anyway
I didn't know that anything had to be done to the grill, I just know that the trim directly underneath the headlights has to be changed or modded. I've also gathered, from looking at a couple of pics, that A LOT of material needs to be removed (not just drilled, but dremmeled out) from behind the old headlights. Or is there a way around that? As far as the wiring goes, I'm not even gona attempt to do it myself, I got somebody to do it for me... What I would really want to know is 1)What to do about the trim under the lamps (buy from dealer, cut the originals, else??! 2)What, if anything, needs to be done with the grill (I don't want to buy a new one just yet) 3)How do I know what to cut and what not to cut (the less material has to be removed the marrier) Thanks again. ![]() |
