Land Rover's Kiwi Awards

Press Release: Land Rover
Media bulletin
Monday 13 March
Land Rover's Kiwi Awards
Land Rover has been racking up the awards with its two newest offerings, the Range Rover Sport and Discovery 3, both in New Zealand and world wide.
The New Zealand edition of Top Gear magazine gave the Range Rover Sport in its supercharged form, its SUV (sport's utility vehicle) of the year award thanks to its sophisticated electronic 4WD system, the controlled, comfortable ride and the precise steering and body control.
But the deciding factor according to Top Gear was the fact Land Rover now has a very capable vehicle to counter the sports-car like German SUVs.
NZ Autocar magazine plumped for the Discovery 3 as its SUV of the year thanks to its roomy seven seat interior, air suspension and all terrain response electronic 4WD system. The world class diesel motor and six speed automatic transmission were the icing on the cake, according to Autocar.
Irish motoring writers decided the Discovery 3 was the Car of the Year in the Emerald Isle while Auto Express magazine in Britain gave its 4x4 award to the Discovery 3 as well.
World wide, Discovery 3 has won more than 70 awards since its introduction.
Top Gear UK magazine and the Scottish Motoring Writer's Guild both made the Range Rover Sport their SUV of the Year. The British "4x4" magazine went one better and made the new Range Rover its Car of the Year.
The Range Rover Sport is one of ten finalists in the World Car of the Year which is due to be announced soon. In New Zealand both The Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport have enjoyed a good start to the year and some specific models are now on back order depending on the customer's colour preference.

While it's great that they're winning awards, one wonders how LR would respond if all the magazines were calling them too frou-frou and complicated.
