Default Launching a club...

Hello everyone,

I'm launching the North America Land Rover Club and would like your help!

I'm experienced in web design and have my own internet-based design company, www.illiniwebdesign.com, but would like someone to help get it started with me.

Anyone interested please send me a PM. If there are more people interested, a few founders are better than one! (No skills or tallents needed, just a genuine passion for LR!)

Well, I'm thinking its main purpose is to gather Land Rover owners from all over and hold events across the country. Sort of a "membership" type club. Members would receive a Member ID card and would have access to otherwise restricted parts of the page including upcoming events and functions.

If you are a cigar smoker, perhaps you've heard of "Big Smokes" where Cigar connoisseurs across the nation gather and just have a good time. An event like this would be great I'd think - maybe sprinkle in some offroading here and there hehe. We could finally put some faces to these forum names and avatars.

The website would of course have pictures, movies, listings, a forum, membership applications, and Land Rover news.

Once a considerable member base builds up, possibly do a monthly mailer whether it's email or a real flyer via postal.

My family was a member of the Porsche Cub of America for years and it was so incredibly well organized and prestigious that I think something similar for Land Rover would be simply awesome.

I'd try to represent Michigan Rovers, or in this region (midwest), I don't know any out here that I've met. But maybe when the word get's out there, poeple will join.

I'm in Springfield, dead center of Illinois - So you're with me!

In regards to the club, I'll be working on some web design amongst other things. Expect to see something as early as later this week.

It's difficult to say the least I've considered starting a NJ club, but there is just so much involved in it, between organizing events, keeping track of dues, memberships, etc.. I opted to just continue to organize informal meetups and offroad trips, works a lot better I think.

Just saw this thread...here is an idea...why not talk to Serg and tie it into this forum? The is the largest LandRover Forum around right now and it continues to grow. I am sure Serg wouldn't mind you linking the site to this forum - this would save you from having to create and build a forum. You could still do a membership thing.

One thing to consider is the liability of such a club. A single lawsuit can bring down a huge organization. That is one thing we run into all the time here.

Great idea though.

That's a posibility. I don't want to alienate other Rover forums though (Discoweb, lrr, etc).

Ah...What sort of liability would that be? I'm not sure what law suits would be a threat. By who? And you say there has already been legal issues regarding LRO?

In regards to using Land Rover logos and trademarked names?

Well you have to decide what sort of club you want to be.. If you start something that organizes offroad events, there is a ton that could go wrong, such as accidents offroad or possibly illegal trail rides (which is the problem w/ a NJ club since we dont have any legal places)..

LOL, the one trail I once did back in March, where I got stuck, is in an area, that is next to a freeway, and on a busy road, people go wheelin all the time on it, as a matter a fact I stopped by it today, cause a bunch of stock Jeeps and Chevy's went down there, and I watched from the side of the road.

Then again, there is a more suitable muddin' pit south of me, about 45 minutes, technically supposed to be a seasonal public road, turned into a mud trail from over use, and tractors that mad it that way.

All we have up here is mud, and along the Great Lakes; sand.
