Default A list of Dealership repair prices

i was thinking,
maybe we could create a little data base of prices we pay at the dealership for repairs and up keep, for general knowledge or comparison, if you've recently had work done at a dealership, could you put what was done and how much you paid?, if thats considered personal then sorry and ignore this thread-

I'll start

Aug 23/06
Front Brake pads and roters on a 1999 Disco 2

$720.00 CDN tax incl.

And you authorized that amount??????
You could have installed a set of DBA's and Kevlar pads for about $330 on your drive way in under an hour.

no time, not enough experience

but thats not why i started this thread, i already know i could have saved money, i just want those who went to a dealership to give examples of what they paid. So others can see why they are called STEALERSHIPS

Well from the stand point of hourly rates. in Denver the dealers run around $110, small shops aren't much less. When I was in Santa Barbara, dealers were pushing $140 small shops were at $120.

~$380 for an O2 sensor, I belive AutoZone had then for around $130.

I didn't get one yet, so if anyone knows the best deal on O2s for a 94 Disco, let me know.

The Land Rover / Jaguar / Mercedes / Volvo dealership in Charlston, West Virginia charges $95 an hour for labor. I got a quote of $975.00 for a new fuel pump installed in my Classic.

Back when I had my Discovery I think they wanted something in the neighborhood of $700 to cure the dreaded ABS tri-light combo of death.

I payed 700$ for a New Fuel pump. That's when I realized I need a repair manual quickly.

Saying that a dealership charged you 700 dollars to turn off lights doesn't really explain what they actually charged you for.

Its like saying the dealer charged a thousand dollars to turn off the check engine light.

If you guys are going to post the actual cost of repair, please post the actual repairs done and the parts listed so that misinformation wont be spread.

It annoys me to see you guys post numbers and no actual repairs and parts listed on the job.

And remember too Dealers prices are different as are exchange rates.

Do you guys think it is any different a a Jeep dealer or any other franchise, why waist all the engergy to beat up on the Rover dealers when they are all that way. What a waist of time complaining about something that is the same all over.
Go wheeling or something, it is alot more fun.

Hey Rovin,

The quote was to fix the ABS sensor. Does that make you feel better?

I figured the $95 an hour was fairly descriptive as far as pricing goes.

95 dollars an hour isnt deceptive at all. Its truthful. What did you expect all of your problems to be fixed with only one hour of diagnosis and nothing else.

Dealerships are different then midas. They dont advertise major brake fixes or shock replacement like the midas and monroes of the world.

Its hourly rate.

I suspect they the dealership charged you for an hour of diag along with the actual repair job and the cost of the part. But since you aren't posting everything it looks misleading to everyone else and giving the automotive dealerships and independant a bad name.

Please shut this list down since only heresay and conjecture are being posted and not the actual facts.
