The $50 shutoff at the pump is setable by the station. They aren't doing this for rationing, but the oil companies have had alot of non paying credit card users when their bill gets up there. The Mobil I use (12 miles up the road in Massachusetts is an average of 21 cents per gallon less than Northern CT) used to have a $50 CC limit, but when the prices shot through the roof, they either raised it, or took it off entirely. I fill my 110 on an average on once every 10-12 days, and don't until I'm less than a 1/4 tank, so it takes $50-52+ each time I fill. On occassion, I'll take a couple gerry cans too, so it goes much higher, but has never shut off before I'm done pumping.

I got off the phone with my buddy who works at a bank.
He said the 50$ is a "pre-authorization limit" set by the bank.
He also said it is very common and been happening for a while.
We have never run into it before is why.
IF you go to truck stops for fuel you may encounter higher pre-authorization amounts.

depends on if your truck pings or not with lower octane fuels. If it runs fine on a lower octane, fine. If your truck pings that's a problem and is most likely causing unnecessary wear in your engine.

FLY WHEEL,

I have been using 87 octane for just over 3 weeks now. I do see any change in engine performance. I do however hear a slight cliking sound from the engine, but I do not think it is the valves because it comes and goes and does not change rythem when I go faster. I think I might go back to using the 91 octane when the price comes back down.

My ping sound is the catalytic converters being basically hollow.

At 54K miles I too get that loose rattle in the bowels of my Landy. It sounds like a Wrist Pin. I use good synthectic stuff so maybe it just typical acceptable Rover Tolerance.....who knows
