Hey everyone. Im new to this community, and I just bought a 2000 DISCO II. Its all stock at the moment, but i have some plans for it when money permits. Im an air traffic controller in the USAF, so i have to do what i can with what I've got! I can already tell that this thing will probably play a major roll in everything i do for the next 5 years, and im looking forward to learning as much as i can from this site as well as everywhere else. If i ask some questions that sound stupid, my bad. Just dont know too much about the Land Rover community. I plan on driving it from Goldsboro N.C. to Anchorage, Alaska this winter when i move bases, so I look forward to discussing and doing buisness with you guys! Good to be here.

Welcome to the forums, Congrats on your first Land Rover. I'm in the USCG, might be transferring to AK next year too. Of course my Rover will be coming along too.

Nice lookin' Disco man! Is there a USAF base in Goldsboro? Not familiar with it unless a name is brought up. I live in an apartment north of Dayton, OH, where the Wright Patterson Air Force Base happens to be, don't know if you are fimiliar with it.
Been there a few times but before I went to college in Lima in August. ![]() And damn, going to Anchorage, Alaska eh? That is a hell of a drive! ![]() And also Welcome to LRO man! ![]()

Welcome from a former USAF Combat Controller! Enjoy your Disco and enjoy the drive to Elmendorf. I drove from Elmendorf across Canada and then down to the US- great drive but made the mistake of doing it in a 74 Camaro... wasn't much left of it after the drive.
You'll learn fast, no worries. Give that truck the routine stuff and it'll go damn near forever.

Thanks guys! Yeah, there is an Air Force base in Goldsboro.I won't write the name of it. If you will google it, you will get a really good laugh at it. Its pretty childish, but its a funny place to be at. I know where Wright Pat is. AAXD, if you head up there, just give me a shout. We'll go four wheeling somewhere. Im really looking forward to the drive. Anybody have any suggestions on places i just have to stop at? Im decent with tools, should i be getting way more familiar with them in the years to come? Muddy Oval, much respect to you for having that job. No-one knows how hard that stuff really is. Pics were took at Carolina Beach in Wilmington. The Outer Banks are great. Thanks for the responses guys. Happy to be here. If you ever need to know anything about the Air Force or keeping airplanes from hitting each other, ill be glad to help you in exchange for some info on the hopefully long life of my Disco.
