Default Please Help Me Identify My New Toy

Bought this off craigslist yesterday and can't wait to start throwing money at it but I'm not sure what "It" actually is. I know it is a 1998 Range Rover 50th Golden Annivesary Special Edition Model #8 of 50 according to the badge. It has only 69,000 miles and I need to get a fender for it and some other goodies to call it "Good". Where there different models in 1998 and are there compatable pieces for those fenders and such? Thank you, I'm such a newb with all this Range Rover stuff...

A) It's not a Range Rover... it's a Discovery... Land Rover is the name of the company, Range Rover is a model, and Discovery is a model... its a 1998 Land Rover Discovery ... also sometimes referred to as a Discovery 1 or D1.

B) 1998 was 50-years for Land Rover.

C) I think any Discovery 1 (1994-1999) panel will fit... you may try calling someone like Paul Grant (paulgrant@mac.com/203-770-1699) or Will Tillery (#1 Community For Land Rover Owners - The Rover Guy) .. they both part out rovers.

Not to pop your bubble, but if you are going to rebuild it for yourself, I hope you didn't pay much if any for it, you have a lot of work there.

I'm hoping that $800 wasn't too much for it... Like I was saying 69,000 miles and a gem of an interior to me seemed like a good canidate for a daily driver.

By the size of the hit, you most likely have a bent chassis

Nice.

Looks worse than my 97 when i bought it, but not by much.

Check the frame/chassis. If its straight then the rest isnt too terribly hard. Hope you know how much work you have ahead of you.

It would be easier to buy another parts rover and sell what you don't use...Or take the 2-3 grand you will spend and go buy a "right" rover..
