question about heavy duty axles and spline count

I am interested in putting in some heavier duty axles and I am confused about the splines. Is the higher the count, like say 32 splines, the better, or is it the lower the count like 24 splines, better? Which would be better to get the 24 or 32? or does it just depend on the diff? I am interested in getting maxi-drive axles and putting in their locking diff as well and was wondering about the spline count. any help would be appreciated. I dont know if this helps any but I have a DI
