Thumbs down Roverland Parts

I'm not sure where to put this, but here seems good.

First and foremost I want to say that I am extremely displeased with my experience thus far with Roverland Parts and will NOT recommend them to anyone again. Further I would advise that unless you are desperate for a well used part then do not use this parts supplier.

I was refered to them by Disco Mike for a body panel. They deal in "quality used" land rover parts and having read their site I was comforted by statements such as "many of these parts may only have a few thousand miles them", "We stand behind our parts, painstakingly inspecting and reconditioning each part prior to shipment. Our goal is to ship your part in new or original condition." As well as numerous testimonials posted which mistakenly lead me to believe that I would receive a part in good condition.

I ordered the rear driver's side quarter panel and the quarter glass from them at, admitedly, a good savings. A huge box arrived yesterday and inside was an extremely well packed and well used body panel. No additional quarter glass. The panel was covered in scrapes and rust. There was some mystery part screwed and riveted to it (possibly an aftermarket mud flap?). It was still covered in road grime, body trim and adhesive. It had obviously just been removed from some wrecked rover and immediately packaged and shipped with NO prep. The absolute minimum I had expected was a clean and moderately prepared to new (peel off the trim, remove the adhesive, seam sealer, wipe it down, ANYTHING to show a modicum of effort to return the damn thing to "new or original condition").

I wrote them regarding this and received an email in reply full of denial and demand for pictures. Robert stated that I should be glad to have received a "damage free" panel shipped across country. By his logic I should fall to my knees in praise every time I order something online which has been shipped across country. Its not like I paid for the service! Not to mention the panel was not "damage free." Oh, and of course, no mention from him regarding his negligence in not sending me the quarter glass.

Guess the customer only serves as something Land Rover shops and suppliers to bend over. What happened to customer service? What happened to a simple appology for negligence?

rant off.

I don't have any experience with them but there is at least one other choice for parts; Will Tillery. Found on DWEB. Can't say enough about his service.

Oh wow! That is unfortunate...I've had good dealings with them in the past.

You may be questioning the validity of the advice you rcv here but one last suggestion would be to contact Paul Grant (his SN is Paul Grant) and ask if he can get you what you need. I ordered from him, had a tracking number the next business day and the price I got was UNBEATABLE!

In the meantime, I hope you get everything resolved with your current situation.

There's Roversland in Miami, and Rover Land, also in FL, people get the two mixed up. I have heard mixed reviews about Rover Land, but have had good dealings with Roversland.

I'm refering to roverlandparts.com. I'll give Paul Grant a shot next time, he seems to have much better service.

Sorry to hear about your bad experiance. Just curious if you have checked around at your local slavage yards for Rovers? If I can find D1's and D2's in the junkyards around hear, you have got to have some near you in Cally. Worth a shot to check, then you'll know what shape the part your getting is actually in. Better to get junkyard parts locally then to have them shipped across the country.

Well, now that you have bad mouthed RoverLand Parts, why not tell the real story in it's entirity.
I suggested you try them, as I have to many people. When I heard you had a problem, I called the owner and got quite a different story.
The parts were cleaned with a chemical then power scrubbed, shipped on time well wrapped at a cost of $23 and change. Only one window was sent because yet because they thought there was an error in the order. Have already authorized a check to be sent to you for the second window and they have offered to take your panel back and send you another one.
What more do you want? You haven't even spoken to then by phone.
For what it is worth, I have sent lots of people to them for parts and no one has ever had an issue, I will continue to send people their way.

Well wrapped crap is still crap. They charged $45.73 for shipping, not $23. They thought there was an error in the order so they charged me double and sent one. Makes sense. I like using other people's money for a week too.

I wanted a panel in good condition (no dirt, no scrapes to metal, no rust from other parts laying on it, no adhesive or extra trim pieces, no extra holes from rusty sheet metal being screwed and riveted to it). What does anybody want when they order from a business that represents a product in a certain manner. They want the product as represented! They have NOT offered my money back for the panel. They have not mentioned anything to me other than a demand for pictures. It is handy that they are talking through you, Mike, and not directly to me.

And when did you actually talk to them on the phone?????
You would have probaly had this all resolved if you had just gotten on the phone and worked out the issues.

Ah, right. Going from one forum to another all the facts get screwy. For those not forum jumping... I have not and am not currently able to call them and have been doing my correspondance through email. These newfangled computer boxes aren't good enough for that are they?

Where's the love DiscoMike? Why are you getting so riled up? Are you afraid if Roverland's image gets tainted yours will too because you refer so many to them?

I feel like I may be doing the Rover forum community a disservice by tying up DiscoMike with this. I appreciate you calling them, but unless this is a matter of pride you should go back to helping others. You can surely be used elsewhere.

I just don't like it when there is a problem that someone turns in to a fire because it was not handled right when it came up.
People read your post, take it a gosiple and then continue to bad mouth a company for something as simple as this.

Yes... taking posts as the gospel. That sounds real familiar. It seems everyone says magnecor wires and bosche +4 plugs are the bees knees because certain members say so. A whole other thread entirely!

I'm just stating my experience with the company, not heresay, not conjecture. These are just the facts.

Maybe I should go back through and change my adjetives. Gee golly, I sure was bummed that my panel was screwey. Then people wouldn't take me seriously and would have similar experiences that I did. Maybe they wouldn't. I'm not analyzing, just dumping information to a community that are grown individuals and can form their own opinions.

Thumbs up

I'm going to go ahead and throw this up here from the other forum. Heading off the storm if you will.

I've never used them myself, like I said earlier, I use my local junkyards for Rover parts(no shipping and a can get the parts myself so I know what I am getting, blah, blah), instead of a junkyard in Florida. If your pissed cool, vent, let everyone know what's up(which you did). How about posting up some pictures of the stuff they sent you, might change some minds if you know what I mean.
