snap rings stuck

im changing the u-joints in my front drive shaft today but i cant seem to get the snap rings to budge does anyone have any advice on this?

hit them with a hammer and socket, 1 at a time. pick a side, hit it. pull snap ring. then flip over and do again. so on and so on.

thanks hafaday i wish i woulda done that. i broke 2 sets of snap ring pliers and ended up sprayin a little wd-40 on them then using needle nose pliers, a sod cutting tool and an ice pick. i started to get that squeaking rattle this week mainly up hills and found this under there
