I am an ex pomme in aus about to purchase a hard to come by landie. I grew up with them but have little technical knowledge about recent advancements. Could anyone answer a few questions or at least point me in the right direction?
1-when did anti shunt control first appear on the defenders? 2-when did fast throttle control first appear on the defenders? 3-is there much difference between a 1999 TD5 and a 2003 TD5? any help would be much appreciated. JAMIE |

I can only answer point 3, but it will be a start-
A 2003 Td5 will have one important change- a re-mapped electronic throttle. The earlier ones were prone to stalling and 'bumping' at low speeds because the throttle response was very strange. In 2002 the computer was reprogrammed to provide a smoother response. Apparantly it makes a huge difference to the driveability.
