I just bought a smittybilt 8,000 winch for my Disco II. Im now looking for a place to mount it. I dont have the cash to spend on a new bumper, so thats out of the question. I do have a brush guard thats taken a beating. Is there any way I can mount right on the bumper or something? Have any of you done this? It can be internal or external, whatever works and is cheap....
thanks alot fellas

Put the winch away till you can buy a decent bumper and suspension to handle it, you have no options other then that.

The winch will sit very low and be hard to get to and based on how they anchor to the frame, you will not have much strength or the ability to do much pulling except straight forward, any pulling from the side and the winch will twist.
Good luck with whatever you do and send pictures.

reciever hitch mount is the way to go i think, have a reciever welded on to the front crossmember of your frame and then you can use it front or back, however i wouldnt reccomend side pulls, will cost you like 200$ max for this (cost me less than 100)
