Turn off Avatars if they bug. Just make sure people know they can... or make it an option to turn them on to begin with.

XOXO
Should be that simple

On the other hand...I hit this forum about a year ago and didn't find it all that interesting (as an LR3 owner). I came back a few weeks ago, "discovered" the dynamic trio of burns, kelly, and sideview. Then the sexier content seemed to escalate and before I knew it, I was hooked :-)

I like the forum the way it is, it is a refreshingly irrelevant place to have some fun

So what does this forum offer a FEMALE land rover owner/driver? If I posted a half-naked avatar of a man (and I wouldn't) you guys wouldn't be bothered? Or embarrassed if someone saw it on your screen?

I have to turn off avatars because I want to check the site at work and, even though I like to see the pics people have of their rigs, I have to DEAL with pics like the one WOLF has posted. It might be my problem b/c I read about rovers during the day, mostly at lunch or in the late afternoon, on my work computer....but the point is, don't claim to be kid/family/work friendly if you allow pictures like those!

There is a difference in what WOLF has in sig line and what Dan posted, as we all know this is the reason this thread has been started. The pic WOLF has in his sig line is of a person with clothing on and not in the nude and not of people having sex. You are more than welcome to use a pic of a half naked male in your sig or avatar as long as it isnt of his private areas being shown. For example a female member here has a picture of a group shot of rovers with a shirtless guy in it and there is no problem with it.

EDIT: i see there has been a comment on my avatar pic being offensive, I'd like to ask how it is because she is fully clothed is she not??????????????

As its been stated, if you don't like them there is an easy option to turn them off.....Same goes for people who don't want to see pornography in the lounge....Go somewhere else on the forum.....

Its funny....Now we are in an online fight with Dweeb....LMAO...

I've turned off avatars and sig lines...because that solves the majority of my problems. However, I do think it's hypocritical that you want everyone to be kid-friendly yet you allow lude avatar and profile pics.

I consider myself classy enough NOT to post pictures like that, so I don't feel the need to put men in my pictures. I enjoy seeing the pictures people post of their rovers though...so I'll try to continue to view images here....with caution.

02Disco2--does it matter if I'm 'from' Discoweb? I've been on LRO for a while now as well...I just can't deal with more than one forum a day and tend not to post much here. Hell, I've even got an LRO sticker on my truck!

Wolf--I can't see any of the pics anymore, so do as you like. I have trouble with people making hypocritical statements about children, etc. I don't have any kids, so *I* am the one who would rather not see those photos...mostly because I choose only to look at LR websites (not sites with pics of scantily-clad women!) and because I often peruse them at work.

Just to make a point, if I remember correctly the shirtless guy picture is from a distance. And why couldn't I post a picture of ALMOST a man's privates as you all had pictures of women's breasts?!

I still say your comments have been hypocritical. I'm NOT defending whatever Dan posted....mostly because I didn't see it. I don't click links in the Lounge area and I'm not talking about pornography. My complaint is, and has been, with avatar and signature pictures.

You should spend more time over here...its so much better than Dweeb, IMO. I started over at Dweeb and finally found this great site.

With all the fuss, I might not be welcome.

I've been on Discoweb for many years...and I have made a lot of wonderful friends there and learned a lot about our Rovers. But, like any true LR addict, I enjoy anything related.

For the most part, I stay out of the fights on Dweb too. But when people cross the line and don't practice what they preach (especially in a double-standard way) that really pisses me off! I wouldn't go into the Lounge and click something then complain about it being offensive...just like I wouldn't complain about someone watching a porno if it wasn't aimed at me or I had the choice to avoid it!

If you have rules, stick to them. Otherwise, change what you say.
