Default any advise on 3.9 conversion f.i. to carb, dist. too

I have a 95 discovery with a 3.9. I got the car for free cause the previous owner spent a fortune on trying to get it running and didn't. It was near the ocean so most of the electronics are in bad shape. I'm also in the middle of nowhere in Mexico so replacement part are no where to be found. I want to convert away from the computer based system and go to a carb and maybe an msd type distributor. Any one out there who has done it or knows what would be involved in getting the whole system back to their most basic and uncomplicated form. I've been a mechanic for over 30 years and have my tools with me. Thanks

You can get the Edelbrock intake manifold and carb (Holley 600cfm) from Summit Racing and others. No one I know has gotten them to run well without rejetting properly, as they always seem to run too rich. My son finally got his dialed in and loves it.

Offy or Edelbrock manifold and the Holley Truck Avenger 460cfm worked perfectly out of the box for me. I also used the RPI kickdown kit from the UK for the trans. Simple conversion but it did hurt gas mileage. I think the 600 is probably a little big for a stock motor, but it should work. A 500 may be a bit more appropriate. The stock dizzy worked great for me. I forget exactly how it was wired but it was only two wires to the dizzy. Very easy. Good Luck. Gordo.
