Talking Does 48 Studebaker M5 on Discovery Count?

I had to do it, i chopped a discovery frame and stretched it 22 inches and de-floored the studebaker cab and joined the two 55 year apart floors together! lol result is starting to look good, full stepside classic truck but...... coil sprung, 4 wheel disc brakes, 265 grabbers on black vogue UK alloys, grey leather power seats tilt column, motor is 3.9 2 bolt with edelbrock and holley 500 c/w tubular headers once finished will paint sport orange with chrome headlamp teardrop pods and grill's and a pair of super traps sticking out the back - funny thing is one tyre is @ 4 lbs and the sidewall is only 8 ply and the trucks weight hasnt flattened it :-) just need to score the stickshift tranny and the front rear truetracs and it should be finished by summer.

You can see the rig on my site www.checkercabb.com projects

Just bared the frame of motor/drivetrain, cab is on its back waiting to weld in new firewall & floors, then its off to blasters with customers fj45 cab - doing both at once to reduce costs etc

got the donor motor out last night a very clean internally 3.9 just need to get the flywheel & clutch and stick shift, i have a friend with a manual disco thats close but i hope to get a 78 standard rrc stickshift with fairey o/d from customer in BC as main tranny - id rather have 3 alloy shift knobs inside - plan for the tunnel is to cover in 3 sides of aluminum with 2 large holes for coffee and ahead of that ill mount the studebaker heater - in orange as truck - the little heater is a work of art - its like a little toaster!

main thing on the job is using as a template guide the piece of the disco firewall that the booster and pedals bolt into - by using this i will have an easier time as it will all bolt in after paint.

hardest thing for me is remembering what i need to keep whats going where and whats junk!

The thing i want to do mainly is a clean job as looking retro as possible but ensuring it has a factory job little things like i saved the disco fuel door and filler neck which ill fab into a compartment on the side of the bed so that it fills from the passenger side - old location was behind drivers door - other things is mounting 2 boxes under the bed one for the battery other side will be tools and jack below the spare wheel thats on the disco cargo door mount.

Its thinking ahead for the little things like the washer resevior and radator expansion tank, and fuse box will all be mounted under the dash passenger side to keep the engine bay clean hence why ill be using a HEI dissy & coil.

lots of work to do but im seeing this through!

Cheers
