Isuzu Diesel conversion - new Torque Converter?
Hey Everyone,
I am just starting the process of installing my new Isuzu 3.1 Turbo Diesel Engine in my 89 Range Rover Classic. I have the engine and have purchased the conversion kit from engine conversions in the UK. I have a new(used) LT230 on its way from toddco suspensions, and the ZF auto is being rebuilt.
My question is - does anyone know if the regular torque converter will be fine with the diesel? The diesel runs at lower RPM than the 3.9 typically, so would I want it to "lock up" at a slightly lower RPM? I am sure that the difference will be small since it should lock up at pretty low RPM anyway, but the mechanic who is rebuilding my transmission said I might want to think about a different one.
Also, any help or advice on this conversion would be greatly appreciated, as this is my first one!
