series/ rangie 100" hybrid power? - Land Rovers Only

I am putting an edelbrock manifold, edelbrock 4 barrel, and heddman headers on my 3.9L, what do you think it will make for hp and torque? This is in my hybrid 100" series IIA pickup, how quick will the truck be?

Hey Clifton, I have a similar set up on my truck but it isnt running yet. Im not expecting much increase in power, hoping for torque and that it just doesnt stall/starve on the off chamber stuff! With the light series body, I do think we should notice a nice increase in power.
BTW, Im running a Offy manifold (the low profile one), the holley 470 Truck Avenger, and heddmann headers on my 3.9. I also grabbed up one of RPIs kickdown cable kits. Even buying everything used (except the RPI kit), it isnt cheap! For the snorkel (if you run one?), Pepboys sells a 'carb hat' for 60 bucks that is a fairly nice piece. The only downfall is that the hole size for the intake is 4 inches, but they sell reduction couplings so it isnt a huge deal. Im rambling. Gordo

How quick, compaired to what?

You will pick up a few extra HP possibly.

How many miles are on it?

Whats the engines condition?

Get a new bump stick, rebuild it, head job, etc.

It will get better hp than stock, but gearing will come into play also. Since the series body will be lighter than the rangie body the HP/weight ratio will be better so it will be "faster" than a stock rangie. Unless you are adding a lot of protection and winch.

no I am trying t make it as light as possible. The engine is also in really good shape.

In all honesty, I don't think that you will be able to turn in even a high 15 sec quarter mile. The Rover engine (Buick) just does not make much power, even with modification the engine will not respond as well as some V8's to 'bolt on' speed goodies. Every little bit helps though!

The guy I bought my Offy manifold from had a 3.9 in an MG. It ran mid 14s. I dont think you would have a prayer for 16s much less 15s!

Go with the same carb Gordo has, and dump the edelbrock. You need a carb designed for off-road. Otherwise when you get at any angle over 15-20 degrees, you're going to starve out and die. Not good for rallye events, or off camber situations. The Holley has special J tubes to keep fuel flowing at higher angles. And it's priced very competitively.
