Default series SOA with 3.9 and Lt95

I have just changes my build plans and i am now planning a 88" with parabolics, and disco axles. I will be using an lt95 and a 3.9. is this tranny too long to use on the 88 with the Spring over axle set up. I will rotate the pinions to make the driveline angles as relaxed as possible. I know I am going to need bars to prevent axle wrap. the soa sould only give me 3 1/2 to 4" of lift.

I am currently in process of fitting anti-wrap bars to my 88" with SOA. Let me save you some hassles. On the rear, I bought the kit which SpiderTrax has for Suzuki Samurai's. It was almost bolt in, with very little fabbing to make it fit right and work. On the front, well, that's another matter, but figuring out your steering angles and geometry have to come first before you worry about where you'll bolt one up.

Only a year late.

I've done this.

The SOA on stripped down springs will give 4", so you would expect about 5" lift by doing this. I did mine straight onto Toyota Hilux (Minitruck) axles.

The V8/LT95 is an interesting and really difficult fit, and in my opinion doesn't work on a SOA SWB. If you keep everything behind the original IIa facia the it leaves almost no room for a rear propshaft. To make this work I ended up linking and coiling the rear suspension and taking it out to 100" WB and then making a Hilux DC front shaft fit the rear. Even then the angles on the shaft are severe before allowing the suspension to change from normal ride height.

Its a little obscured in this pic, but the handbrake ends under the Xmember and you can see how close the rear diff pinion sits. At 88" there is no way a rear propshaft will work - but this has the engine gearbox sitting so that it will fit behind the original facia at the front - all 90's etc have the motor sitting a bit forward of this.

In this pic the axle is moved back to give a 100" WB and it will work, but I'm guessing you don't want a 100" WB

Doing this produces a really big truck for its wheelbase in my opinion, and it was scrapped because of rust, but when I rebuilt I didn't do it the same so that it would be more usable offroad.

88" SOA.

100" SOA/Coiled.

109" but not complete.
