Thanks All. I think I missed a few questions.

The body work is all series 3, except the hood/breakfast

Daniel I saw Tonka at the shop. You need to get that truck fixed. Super Daves Hybrid is nice. His fabrication skills blow mine away, although he did let me help with bending/fabbing, grinding etc on the cage. Jakes truck is crazy, portals, 40 boggers, etc, etc. I posted some pics of it on the club bulletin board. (drumroll please post) Check them out. Some more pics of my hybrid in the photo album as well.

On the roll cage, it is just bolted to the body right now, as I havent fabbed the 'feet' yet but it is in the works. I got some left over DOM .188 wall and 1/4 plate to make my own. I also plan on running two DOM .125 wall sticks from the frame to the center hoop/middle bar (if you look closely you will see a mount) to triangulate it somewhat and probably a bit more gussetting. I'd love to mount the seats to the cage, but DOM is so expensive and Ive got over a grand into the cage as it sits, and Ive still gotta buy some more steel. No matter what it will be safer for my family (wife and two boys, 3.5 and 1.5). Gordo

Here are a few more photos of the cage. Taking a while. I built sliders to make mounts for the cage. The box is 1/8 inch with 1/4 angle at the corners where the feet go. The front actually slides out so you can remove the fender. Somewhat redneck engineering but it should work. I added the triangulation for piece of mind. I also plan on building a rear tire carrier that mounts on either side of the cage for additional strength and something different. I encourage any comments good or bad as this is my first cage. Gordo.

Default Heres a new update

A couple more photos. The truck is almost done being mocked. I went ahead and designed a tire carrier that ties into the rear cage mounts, finished the snorkel which mounts to the cage and made seat mounts prior to ripping it apart. Just a few more odds/ends to tidy up and then I can take it apart, paint it, weld/plate the chassis and start the real build. Should go back together much easier. Gordo.

Default Another update

I dont know if anyone ever reads this board, but heres another update. The truck is fully painted now in willow green, the roof is being painted this week in limestone. The paint looks great and my buddy Dave Squire painted it for me for free, of course I did the prep work and bought the materials. The chassis is all finished and it is finally going back together. Im getting excited over here. Gordo

DANG! That floor and insterment cluster look great! What a killer looking truck! makes me want to go tear my series apart. Question: did you shorten the frame to fit to the 88"? where abouts? I've got a spare 89 that would make a great doner.

Yeah I took around 10.5 inches out of the middle of the chassis (between the trailing and radius arms) which made it about 89 inch wheelbase. With the 90 flares I had a little wiggle room and I wanted to push the rear tire back, compared to a stock series. The rails are the same width so once you shorten the frame and cut the old outriggers off, you can use series bulkhead outriggers and a rear crossmember to make it all fit together. Im not trying to make it sound easy, as it is time consuming but with some patience, alot of measuring and studying, and a decent tools/fab skills, it isnt too bad.

Repete, If you asked me 3 months ago I'd say it isnt worth the trouble, but now that its coming together I'd say it is. LOTS AND LOTS of hours. Ive been working for a year on it and it's pretty much taken up ALL my spare time. Better have a strong marriage or be single! LOL>

I will definetly have to think about it. I do a lot of steel fab with work, so it looks like a fun challange. I would definitely have to wait till next year to start. I'll be looking foward to see your finished product!

I hear ya! Seems like everything takes longer than you expect. I made a list today and I have 42 tasks left. Some are easy and some are time consuming. Ive got 13 days to get it on the road. Probably going to start life without the hardtop to save time.
I will get some new photos up after the weekend.
