Default heater air lock?

Changed water pump and now the system has an air lock and the heater does not work. TDi 1998, any suggestions

Go round every hose and squeeze them alot to pulse the coolant and you will eventually shift the air lock.

Driving over bumpy ground helps

I tend to fill up the coolant system from the rad, expansion tank and also from the heater matrix hoses too! That way you fill the block and heater matrix too becasue the matrix is pretty much the highest part in the engine bay.

HAve you flushed the system? since your messing about with it it would be worthwhile flushing it as well. might as well.
