Both going well, looking at upgrading the RR to a soft dash and using the gear I have to develop it, got to find the right vehicle yet. The Disco is being prepared for our trip to the High Country in march.
I don't envy you with the V8 running costs, thats why we have gas in the RR.
Might see you next week.

Smile Hi !

G'day Guys !

Just thought I would say hi .. I am from Port Stephens .. Australia, just bought a 93 disco a couple of weeks ago.

So far ... well a few problems .. like the wheel wobble at 100 Km's when I hit a bump (didn't notice that during the 2 test drives) .. but I am having the hub rebuild, new steering damper and new shocks and coils fitted on Monday (Ironman kit .. 40mm lift) .. so I hope that will solve that one .. also starter motor seems to be on the way out, so ordered a new one. Then I had a big scare the other day when it started running on 7 cylinders (thought it might be head gasket at first) but a spark plug change fixed that, thankfully .. otherwise its great ... bought it for a) towing another car I have to racetracks and b) looking at moving to a country area with gravel roads and tracks. Once I get these few things ironed out I think it'll be perfect.

Hey all, a proud '95 V8i Disco owner from Ballarat, Vic here.

Good to see I'm in great company

I guess I'm smitten by the land rover condition - nothing wrong with that though, except for the $80 per week I'm paying

Cheers guys!

(ps, my avatar pic is of a ripper fun river crossing at Slaty Creek, just out of Creswick - north of Ballarat. I'm particularly proud of that photo my shockers were stuffed at the time though, so it was a bit rough in the driver's seat at that speed!!! )

btw whats the price for fuel over your way ????

I know in SA fuel is $1.15/L and diesel is $1.10/L

Here in WA fuel is $1.06/L and diesel is $1.12/L

Hi Adam,

Yeah, over in Vic we're paying anywhere from 95.5 (at the VERY cheapest), right up to about 109.5 for unleaded.

Diesel's a hell of a lot cheaper at between 106 and 112.

It's bloody painful

G'Day Hum,
I remember Port Stephens, used to go there in the late '60s I probably wouldn't recognise it naw though.
For that front wheel wobble check wheel balance, steering damper and ball joint preload.
After that I see you are going to get the front end rebuilt anyway.

Richard ... pleased to report that it is fixed .. fixed .. fixed ! Not sure what did it .. maybe the hub .. maybe the steering damper, shocks .. wheel balance or a combination ! I fitted an Ironman heavy duty kit that gives a 40mm lift and it now drives and rides great .. not harsh at all and very stable .. so I am a happy camper.
Tonight I am filling the doors with penetrol .. getting ready for some trips to the beach !

... oh and your right .. you wouln'dt recognise this place .. I have been living here for .. oh umm .. about 25 years and I don't recognise it anymore !

Adam ... I don't see it as problems so much as maintenance ...as for fuel over here today was 108 UL ... it was about 115 the other day .. picked a good time to buy a thumping V8 didn't I hehe !

catch ya.

Steve

You did indeed hum but I think it is the right time as I saw a 2000 model disco v8 for sale the other day for only $19,000

I have decide to convert one of my V8's to gas but I am on a waiting list to get in before chrissy and a 100L unit is only costing $1550 so once that is fitted it should be sweet again and will only cost me $40 to go to work instead of $80

Hey hum, how much did that lift kit cost you? I reckon one would go well on my disco

And v8_agro, I'd love to be able to put LPG on my Disco, I've heard it can't be done. Any pearls of wisdom? It's got to the stage where I'm considering getting rid of it, because fuel is going THAT WAY!

Thats a load of rubbish you can fit gas to a disco 2 ways with either a tank in the boot ( 97L ) or twin tanks under neath ( 72L ) and there are 2 problems

1 if you fit a boot gas tank you will loose about 50% of your boot ( thats if you run a tank as big as I have listed )

2 if you go for the twin setup underneath the cost involved is expensive

Give Victorian Installations a call on 1800 455 336

Who eva told you you can't is wrong as I am getting a 100L gas tank fitted to my Stage 1 and that runs twin carbs so anything is possible

Hi there, thanks for the heads up!

One problem though, that phone number doesn't work

Could I get you to check it for me?

I did give an LPG guy here in Ballarat a call - he pretty much didn't want to know me 'at least until after Christmas, but even then it'll be about 3 grand'.

Just another query - of course, the LPG dude oughta be able to tell me this, but my engine has 224,000 k's on it - will the LPG completely stuff it?

Anyway - thankyou VERY much for your help :

Even with high km's on the engine it gas should not really affect it but you have to run fuel throught I think oce a month but I will run mine about once a fortnight

Try this number 132180 tell me if this helps you at all and if not I will start searching the internet for you

$3000 for the gas conversion does'nt sound too bad over here they ranged from $1900-$4000 for the same job

You could try your local yellow pages

Echozero ... I went with the Ironman Heavy duty setup. I was worried I was going to spoil to nice soft ride .. but not at all .. it is slightly firmer than stock over humps and dips in the road, but soaks up the little bumps just as easily if not better than before.

http://www.ironmansuspension.com

All up cost for 4 x coils 4 x foam cell shocks and $ 780.00. With Gas shocks its about $100 cheaper.
