Question import a landrover to new zealand

hi,

i am new to this forum and i try to get some information about what to do with my defender whem moving from germany to new zealand. ok step by step, i own a 110 300TDI MY 97 and plan to move to new zealand in about half a year. my question is now if it is cheaper to take my car with me or to sell it over here and by a similar one in new zealand.
what is the average cost of a 110 TDI 300 in new zealand? is there a big market? meaning is it easy to find 110s?
thankfull for any information on that (and new zealand )

Well Lenz,

Should not be a problem.
You need:
1: Proof of ownership and registration(or deregistration if you do this).
2: If it is left hand drive you must have proof that you have owned it for more than 90 days otherwise you will have to convert it to right hand drive. You will be asked to sign that you will keep it for a few years anyway if it is left a LHD.
3: If you can, go to your L/R dealer and get a compliance certificate (signed by the service manager that shows all the EU standards to do with lighting, seatbelts, tyres etc. If you can't they can be arranged here for a fee. It should be quite a long list. The vehicle will have to be checked out when you want to register it here anyway. Any repairs will have to be made etc. Usual stuff.

110s are in NZ but not in huge supply. There are a few here but people like to keep them and some aren't cheap! A new 110 TD5 is about $70000.

There we are! Also check this out:

That is it! Easy!

thanks for your reply ... but it came to late. i already decided to not import my so much loved 110 to NZ. mainly becuase of the costs for transport, registration, other stuff. if i put that on the price my 110 is worth in the moment i probably can buy a defender in NZ as well.
do you have links where i can check the situation of the market in NZ online? i plan to move in april/may 2006 so there is still plenty of time to search

greets
