My '99 TD5A with 160,000kms has started to mis-fire doing 80kms-plus and the the TC locked up,(seems to lose several pots), temp normal, no MIL light but auxiliary fan is running. Starts perfecty but has, initially, total lack of throttle when moving off, needs me to "floor" the peddle then it comes good.
Have checked the temp probe for continuity and its ok. Any clues please? |

Hi Richard throw this up to defender questions or even general you might get a better response. But
As to your peddle problem, i am only guessing but the td5 is a drive by wire car so you might have a problem with the pot (veriable resistor) on the accelerator. VR's resistance can change when there is no current present but work fine after there is current through the resistance material hence why it apears at start up. I had an amp i fixed once that only had volume problems when I turned it off if I left it on it worked a treat. Only a thaught and also a stab in the dark, Adam
