Anyone try these aftermarket headlights? I see some advertised that are supposed to look HID and have anywhere from 6000k to 8000k color. The price is pretty low on those you see on Ebay but when you price Sylvania at the store (Silverstars) they are much higher and actually advertise less color.
I could use some new headlights... just curious. Any input or advise would be appreciated. I would like to have the brightest headlights I can because I drive in the country alot and many animals running across the road (deer...etc). I really dont want to run around with those blue headlights you see from time to time, though.

search and ye shall find....
Headlight Upgrades I'm using 7000K bulbs for headlights with standard wattage. Bulbs claim 90/100w output only using standard 50/55w draw. I like mine, especially for the money, only $20 a pair. My truck had these when I bought it, and I've only bought one other pair to replace a bulb that burnt out. I bought mine here: http://store.racinglab.com/nokarwhitpro6.html And this to go with them to protect the wiring harness: http://store.racinglab.com/kyoplheduwih4.html I used these for the fogs, but I think I'm gonna go with yellow true fog bulbs next time: http://store.racinglab.com/nokarwhitpro2.html

There's no light that will put out 90watts of light consuming 55 watts just because it's impossible. Light output is rated in lumens.
It's BS. Cheap eBay headlights are often overpowered blue tinted non-DOT illegal substandard junk.

Nice to hear your opinion, do you have a suggestion? Are the Silverstars pretty good lights or do you recommend another?

I have Silverstars and they throw considerably more light than the stock stuff. I'm not at all unhappy with them.

I've thought about getting Sylvania Silverstars for my RRC for a while. But I'd like to see more opinions about them first and if they're worth the buy.

I have silverstars in mine- I lose one about every month or so... but it seems that both my 04 Discos burn out headlamp bulbs on a monthly basis regardless of brand.

Do you take your rovers off-roading all the time? I'd think the bumps of the ruts would mess with the bulbs, but my RRC would use a whole headlight assembly for the Silverstars. Then again the pot holes around Michigan are probably worse.

Jeez- convert to H4's on that Rangie and then you can swap just the bulbs instead of the whole thing.
One of my Discos never goes offroad- same problem with constant bulb changes as the offroad beastly one. Lots of our customers report the same problem.

Wierd, and yeah I'll consider the H4 conversion, if I knew what it was. So, what is it? I know I'm asking like a dumbass.

I also run the silverstars....but I have never had a problem of bulbs burning out. I replaced my working stock bulbs for the silverstars a year ago....ive done some crazy $h!t since then that should have damaged the bulbs if it was going to....so jolting/bumps arnt the problem.
The silverstars seemed brighter, but im not sure if it was because they actually were, or because they are whiter. The whiter the light, the better it reflects, and in turn the more light is spread. On the flip side, for that same reason, whiter light is worse in snow, fog, etc. conditions vs. more yellow/amber light. |

Hmm...I still wonder. I'll have to wait on this later. I gotta get the essentials first, like tires, a lift kit, etc.. You know, the real stuff.

I have Silverstars, and I upgraded the headlight wiring to a relayed system. The bulbs themselves are great, but the relay conversion made them even better, they're considerably brighter than most other headlights available.
