Default Antenna on the roof rack

Hello there. I was just thinking, would it be possible to mount an antenna on top of a roof rack? I also found this Metro Molded Antenna Mast Pad. If ever,do you think it would work with the roof rack which is an aftermarket one.

i have yet to figure what that antenna mast pad is if it is a cb or ham antenna the simplist way is to use a truckers type mirror mount and clamp it to one of the roof rack bars. sand down a small area under the clamp for good contact to use the rack for the ground plane. if it's a 2m ham you can get a 1/2 wave which requires no ground and use a motorized mount press a button and go through the drive through.

Why does he need an extra antenna over the factory unit?
If he wants better draw from his antenna, have him look into installing a power booster between the radio and the antenna.
