Why does he need an extra antenna over the factory unit?
If he wants better draw from his antenna, have him look into installing a power booster between the radio and the antenna.

Antenna on the roof rack
if it is a cb or ham antenna the simplist way is to use a truckers type mirror mount and clamp it to one of the roof rack bars. sand down a small area under the clamp for good contact to use the rack for the ground plane. if it's a 2m ham you can get a 1/2 wave which requires no ground and use a motorized mount press a button and go through the drive through.
