Default Anyone know how to smoke taillights?

I was wondering if anyone knows how to tint taillights (or where to buy) smoked/tinted taillights on a 2004 Disco II SE7. I know some people split open their lights, put a coat of tinted clear or light black spray paint and then bake their lights in an over with silicone glue sealing them back up....I have a set of 2005 Mustang front turn signals I could practice on first. But I would really like a step by step process on how to go about smoking taillights before I bust up those bad boys and my rover's taillights.

not really my style, but I have had friends that have been extremely happy with the work done by jon's tinted tails.

My brother does this to his cars. It comes in a spray that you can get just about anywhere like a parts store or something.

They don't look THAT bad, but the thing is they really decrease your tail light output. So if your flyn at 120 on a normal sunny day and need to stop fast, granny behind you isn't gonna see anything right away. Then she's gonna pump you with her 72 NOVA from behind.

a lift and an extended length trailer hitch can go a long way in a situation like that.

I do know it decreases light output. I was thinking of just tinting the Orange/yellow turn signal portion of the taillight. its the only part of the taillight that bothers me lol.

Man, the people who dim their tail lights really piss me off. I've lost count of the times I've nearly rear ended some idiot who's decided it's cool to make their tail lights hard to see.
Same with dark tinted windows. I don't even bother trying to be curteous and let someone with tinted windows in to traffic. I can't see if they are looking at me to know if they see me indicating they can pull out.
I've never been able to figure out the mindset of people who do stupid crap to their cars that makes them harder to see.

And how can the lights on your car "bother" you when you're driving? You mean it bothers you people might not think you're cool? Get a neon license plate frame instead, that should fill the lack and not put other people at risk.

True, its tougher to see brake lights when their tinted, but I'm not necessarily going to tint my whole lights. I just wanna make the turn signal area darker. I prefer lights to be purely red, clear (not altezza import style clear, just reverse lights), or black. I've never built a car for other people to think I am cool, its all been for me and for fun. you have your opinion, I have mine. Don't try to make me look like a jerk just because I want to make my turn signals a little darker.

Coolness could be the only possible reason since you can't see your own lights when you're driving. Or are the neighbors complaining? Or do you drive behind your own car a lot?

Indicator lights are there for a reason, safety. So people know what you're doing. Making them harder to see makes it harder for people to know what you're doing. Even if you don't care about the other people on the road I would think you wouldn't want to do anything that would increase the chance of someone hitting you.
