I'm considering purchasing a set of these. Anyone ever had any experience with them? Can they handle a good beating? Only reason why I'm not going the Rock-Slider/Nerf-Bar route is because I haul my parents areound a lot and they're always getting on my case about how tough it is to get into the truck (and that's just with slightly larger tires, imagine with the 2.5" Lift). I've seen these steps on many expedition vechiles. Here they are pictured on the famous DII Everyone sees in different catalogues...

You and I got the same problem, the parent's....
.....about how high the truck is and with no running boards. ![]() You have a link for where you found these? I can try to look around, but anyways, if they are thick enough in material (i.e. 3/16ths or thicker), made from steel, and how it's mounted to the body and/or frame, I would see no reason why they would get chewed up on the rocks. ![]()

Yeah they do act like a step, experienced this with Josh's (drum655) DII, his has nerfs and act like a good side step to get in the truck.
I wanna build sliders with nerfs, not only to make the parent's happy to better access the truck, but for better protection.

I've seen more than one case where the step on a RTE slider has potected the doors from damage.

I had them on my D2. I was always nervous about them but last off-road trip before I totalled it they got scraped and whacked several times and all it did was remove some paint. I'm not convinced they're as good as sliders (just put sliders on the D1 last weekend), but they're pretty tough. I got mine for same reason - parents. Worked good for them getting in and out too. I'd say a lot better than anything else out there step-wise.

Great! Thanks for the info guys! I think I'm definately going this route. Keep in mind that in South FLA the only boulders I need to worry about are the huge ones layed out infront of the entrances to places that are abandonded or on People's yards!..lol These ARB steps are frame mounted by the way, so they should definately be stirdy enough.
