Best one that's crash-tested for a truck that sees street use- TJM (ARB's don't mount the winch to the frame)
Best one for a trail-only rig for hittin stuff- RTE

I just installed the 03/04 version of the T15 on mine and love it. It's not as good as the approach angle of my previous one, but the previous one was overkill and my insurance company wasn't keen on it. It withstood a 53 foot trailer being backed into it- HARD, but it drew a little too much attention from the insurance inspector.

My insurance company has never once looked at my bumper. Nor, have they looked at the stinger bumper on my moms H1.....I find it BS.
Has anyone ever been denies insurance or had a claim denied due to a bumper? Seriously. I've never heard of such. I've even searched the internet an cannot find any supporting facts. Do insurance companys condone snow plows, too? How about snow plow attachments? How about a Jeep with the frame extending past the body? I'm really not sure who the insurance company is ruting for, either. If the bumper it tough, it will rip throuh the other car, yet set the air bags off early. Yet, the stock bumper will crush if you bump a curb, but the air bags do not go off...... So, if I pulled my ABS fuse, would the insurance have the right to cancel me? How about my SRS fuse? I'm not buying the insurance thing..... |

I haven't heard anything good from Safari Gard or Scorpion products, so go ahead and rule them out.
I run a ARB and it has *one* dent in it, and I deserved it. Otherwise I haven't had a problem. The ARB does hang down low and overall for a discovery I don't recommend it. I like my ARB because I end up bashing into shit all the time. It protects well. I've hit rocks, untold number of trees, deer, other trucks with excellent results. Little/no damage. Probably look at the RTE. Everyone who has one loves it. Only thing that I've seen its that it doesn't protect the side marker lights very well. Seen a few of them get busted up. But then again none of the bars listed protect that area well. This is what a ford ranger looks like when it tried to impale itself on my ARB. BTW, this was while my rig was parked outside my apt, I was inside asleep. ![]() |
