Default Bras, not meant for women...

This is how cheap I have gotten in covering up the cancer that incompasses my hood. The rust is just an eye sore, and I haven't the money to buy a hood, unless I find a cheapy that I can just paint, if I had the time, cause college eats time in my schedule.

Now is there someone out there that makes a hood bra for my RRC? This is just a temporary solution to keep staring eyes off the front end of my Rover and not the rest. Plus it might look a little off roady type, but it will also cover up the cancer that is underneath. Yes you guys can poke fun at me, cause my lady won't go wheelin' topless, and she has to wear a bra.

So where can I find one if anyone makes them?

How bad is the rust. You can buy bogg that has metal or fibreglass threads that will fill largish holes. You can then take you gas filler cover to an automotive paint place and they should be able to computer match the paint and put it in a spray can for you. So you will need a tin of bogg, a spray tin of primer, and a spray can of the colour matched paint. In US Dollars, should not cost any more than $50. So you should be able to get it looking reasonable for a lot less than a car bra.

Thanks Ian, I will look into that. Sounds easy, just wish it was warm around here to do any painting. Cause we all know that cold metal and paint don't wanna go together easy.

Gotta question about this tin of bogg, does it break a part easily? Cause I know my hood tends to flex a little when I open it.

Just do a fiberglass repair kit...it will hold man!!! I have made floors out of the stuff....Cut away the old rusted parts and build your new hood.....Paint....and you are done!!

The bogg with the metal threads in it dries very hard and will not crack. It is a bit like fibreglass, but a lot harder when dried.

I will give this a shot when it warms up around here. I hate the cold, it makes working on stuff harder. But I will try this out.

Also another thing, the rear section of the hood doesn't match up with the body lines for the section where the HVAC intake vent is at, and also doesn't seem to go flush with the fender below it. Could the hinges be doing this? It appears so, but can't be sure.

Yours have the recessed hinges, so to adjust the up and down you have to remove the panel between the windscreen and bonnet (hood). To adjust it backwards and forwards just loosen the bolts that hold the hinge to the bonnet.

Pat check out some of the rover yards. When I wrecked my 89 I sourced a portfino red fender (in seattle) in good shape. In fact is was the only shiny fender I had but I figured if I would have painted one it would have been the same. Beats buying a hood you have to paint. I think the fender was like 100 coin shipped. the hood will probably be more but if you can source a good one you can get off pretty easy. Gordo

Thanks again Ian, it'll be some work for me but sounds pretty straight forward.

The hood moving it forward and back, yeah I knew how to adjust it. Easy really.

I had looked closer to the hood, and it is not repairable, like the lip is spread apart, from the incident of when I first got the rover, where it rotted away where the skin and frame of the hood meet. That section rotted away, but I got it to stay together as you guys heard from using waist belts. Ratcheting straps to hold her down as well. LMAO

Now I am just gonna be lazy for now and use a bra, or a wrap-around bug gaurd. Where can I find them cheap? Is there a place, like an Autozone, even a a regular average (Walmart-ish) store, where I could find something, find material to get a hood mask from?

When the time comes, I will end up replacing the hood and painting it.

But for now, gotta find something to hide the serious eye sores.

Thanks Guys.

OK you are all gonna hate me for this, and I probably gonna be the first and only Rover with a "T-Bra" on LRO or anywhere in the US.

Can't complain, it was only $59.95 from Autoanything.com made by Colgan. And it is Free shipping as well.

It'll be here in 15-20 business days. hehe, when it gets here, my RRC will be dressed in some black Lingerie, and she will get dirty while wearing it!
