Default Bumper & Winch

What bumper and winch combo is everyone using and how do you like it? Is there anything you would change?

For what year and model truck? What sort of wheeling do you do, how much are you going to use the winch?

I can't help you there other then to say I would look at a 12,000# winch or more because of the weight and possible drag you will have when winching out of a problem.

Like mike has mentioned, there are different bumpers for different types of wheeling... Scorpion Racing / Equipe has low profile tube bumpers white ARBs petrude about 8 inches from the front of your truck, decreasing your approach angle. ARB's, however, have been designed, tested, and built to handle just about anything one can throw at it. Their manufacturing techniques surpass that of many other bumper makers (that I know of). They have their own indicator lights, mounts for addition lights, and a winch tray that can handle a heavy duty winch.

For a winch I think 8 to 9k lb is plenty, use a snatch block with either to return the winch rope to the bumper and you have 16 to 18k of pull if you ever need it, I doubt this will be often.

9000 or a 9,500 might work for a Disco but who wants to have only half the length of cable, cause you are using a block, and take over twice as long as your battery dies and the winch motor over heats, just to save a buck.

Well, if you are in a situation where you need to winch more than 15 ft, you have bigger things to worry about. But as far as D110 bumpers go, I would go with ARB or Safari Gard, (even though it flexes under stress).

If you are going to spend that sort of money for a Safari that flexes and bends, just get with a good welder and have him make you a bumper for your requirements that also looks good.
