But that's $260+ for a plastic drawer... with a lock on it.

Just presenting another alternative to building something, and $1300 drawers.

Fair enough, just thinking that's a lot to spend on plastic. Then again, some don't have the space, skill or patience to work with wood or other materials.

I just prefer to keep all my stuff in 2 big pelicans... if I need the trunk space, I can strap them to the roof rack.

Nothing wrong with plastic. It all depends on what you intend to do with it. Can you jump all over it, use it as a work bench or table? No, but as a storage solution, why not! Everything else in the inside of the truck is plastic, light weight, strong (sort of) and less $$$ than metal.
Currently I am working on a similar 'custom' design made from aluminium checker plate for the rear of my RRC to store all my gear when off roading, but (as always) I am concerned with weight.

i'd rather have metal for the hell of it. weight/money or not, i'd feel more comfortable with metal versus plastic.
