hi, im new to the site, i just purchased my 96 disco sd for 3.5k with 54k miles on it... ive noticed when i look at my headlights they are different from each other.. one has a chrome housing and the other has vinyl or plastic black houseing... could it be that one headlights is from the disco II? would they be able to fit? i've searched but could not find any answers to see if the disco I's and II's have some interchangable parts...

Welcome to the web site and the Rover family. Sounds like you found yourself a nice truck.
The headlight question has been answered and as for interchanging parts between the two models, it is rare. Lots of similarity but changes were made from year to year and especially when the DII came out. What are your plans for the truck? Have you gone 4wheeling in the past? Make sure you get back to us if you have any questions. Mike |

actually i just took it off roading couple days after i bought it... took it to los padres national forest in ca and the car broke down.. haha.. to get there it was a 2 hour drive and then another 2 hours of off roading to get to this camp sight... i went through knee high river and the alternator got wet and stopped charging the battery so the car died after a few more miles of driving... it sucked i had leave it there for a couple days and then went back and fixed it in the middle of the rain in the middle of no where... bu ti pulled through

By the way, it sounds more like the distributor got wet rather then the alternater, which normally is not effected by water. Also if the alternater failed for a bit, your truck should have run for 1 to 2 hours on the battery. Check out the inside of your dist. cap for cracks or moisture. Mike |

Let me know the next time you want to go wheeling, maybe we can meet up. Have you ever been up around Goreman, there are some fun trails up there. Mike |
