Default Driving Lamp install on the LR3

I have a dilema. Last year I bought an LR3. I traded in my 03 Discovery which had the same driving light kit that they are putting on the LR3's. The lights fit right onto the new Grill Guard (or whatever one calls it).

The problem is this. My dealer is completly incapable of wiring these lights. First they wanted me to buy a new kit including the lamps (which I have) at over $500. Obviously I balked as they only need to wire these. Of course Land Rover cant come up with a wiring harness without buying the lights, and they cant seem to figure out how to wire these otherwise.

My next move is to try a different dealer and see if they are more capable of handling this. Any ideas out there would be appreciated,,, minus of course buying a whole new kit.

Thanks.

Do you have a blank panel on the dash where you could install the switch? Maybe buy a LR switch to fit in the blank if you have a spot, or drill a discrete hole somewhere if not. Are you at all mechanically inclined?

You can buy a wiring harness for $15 from Pep Boys or Auto Zone and do it yourself in your driveway. You could take it to an independent mechanic and they could install everything for a whole lot less than the $500 that the dealership is trying to ding you for.

Make sure you use the relay.

Why don't you use a 21st Century solution for a 21st Century car?

Get a RRA008SS Smart Switch Relay Kit for $39.95, get some lights and do the install. You wont have to drill a hole because it wires into the headlight circuit. Flash the highbeams , the driving lights turn on, flash again, and it goes off.

Beautiful idea for a nice car, any land Rover in fact.
