I did a search and I couldn't find a clear answer to my question: can you use the factory cross bars to mount a kayak? I was looking at the Yakima Hully Rollers, and I'm wondering if those will work on the factory cross bars.
And a bit off topic, but I'm still wondering: What does everyone else use the factory cross bars for?

You'd have to get bars that go across..... Last time I looked at the yakima Canoe stuff you could use round or square bars... Honetly I recomend getting the yakima system that mounts to the factory bars....

Those clippy crossbars are sketchy.. The only thing I'd haul on those is maybe inflated party ballons or a bag of feathers, but not both. I just keep them in the bag under the back seat. I have some thule non-guttermount bars that work fine on the factory bars.

The bars are sturdy but the locking system is not the best. They have no locking mechanism just spring loaded that rattles in cold weather .Best to contact Yakima or Thule and you can decide what system you want to work or use.
