Saw this system on TV and it is the most ingenious bolt-on system for domestic vehicles. There is also a STS in Australia so who knows if they do Land Rovers. Check out the section Turbo Systems->Universal. Something for a rainy weekend. Adam in NYC

Yes I was just looking at that website the other night. I spent most of the evening thinking about where I could put it and where to route an intake tube. I saw a Ford on the site that had one and I didn't like that the air filter was exposed and under the truck.
It would probably better to route it back into the engine bay or even better to a snokle. That's a lot of tubing under a rover though. Still Imagine the potential. Turbo and a little ECU tuning, bigger jets.Hmmm the possibilites. ![]()

I had forgotten all about this set-up. I know somebody who has it on there Mustang and they love it. I was thinking about it when I had my Lincoln Mark VIII and actually talked to the company about it, but I sold the car before putting it on. On the Lincoln they said I would gain something like 90hp well using very litttle boost and I wouldnt have had to do any other mods to the engine either.

The website states however that installing a intercooler raises the efficiency up past 90%. I think it is the most expensive but interesting way to get rid of the muffler (about $5000). Adam in NYC BTW, the sound is unique (it sounds like SWEET).

If the savings in gas are great, then the project should pay itself in a couple years....I've calculated that a Diesel swap (est. $8,000) would pay itlself in about 9 years.

if you probally did any sort of wheeling you'd probally mess up the turbo, it sits so low and a rock or maybe deep water or mud could really mess the thing up, even if you did relocate the air filter to a snorkel. just my .02

This got me thinking also, then I found this video. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...19&q=sts+turbo
The compression ratio and beefing up the power train. I still thnk the best option for forced induction on a rover is a super charger. Theres a guy on CarDomain with a Rimmer Supercharger in his disco, looks like that would be the best bet when you consider lag and induction placement issues with the remote turbo. Still a cool idea for any other car |
