Okay, so who has a street pilot with additional maps. My buddy has just got one and has purchased the mexico maps (plug and play street maps) as well as an additional 128mb card. The only way that we can get the Mexico maps to work is to actually have the micro Sd card with the maps on it in the street pilot. I have tried to add them to the unit, so that we can use the 128 card in the slot, but it says that maps cannot be unlocked. There was no documentation sent with the plug and play maps (I guess these are not mapsource... as there was no software that came with it...) and I have not been able ot find any on the Garmin site for the plug and play. Any help that anyone can give on this issue (I am not a GPS wizz...) would be greatly appreciated..... thanks Andrew.

I have the Street Pilot 3 with the large 128 card, I am not sure how much difference there is between the two units other then age and style, but I know that you have to unlock the unit ,before adding additional maps, with the Street Pilots lock code first.
Do yo have that information? Mike |

The unit is unlocked, but when I try and cut and copy the mexico map info from the stupid little chip they sent, and copy it to the unit, it says that maps are unlocked, and no unlock codes came with it... it works fine if it is on the original chip. however, since it is only a small chip, you cannot put any additional points of interest on it, and since that chip is in the slot to get the mexico maps, you cannot put a different chip in to the slot to add the POI... I was actually thinking of buying Garmin for my handheld unit, but since going through this, and thier useless FAQ's and no support on the website, I think I migh check out Magellin.... I was wondering if I had to cut and paste rather than copy and paste, but with the maps being so expensive, I did not want to cut it and then no have it work aterwards.... thanks...

You may be stuck with a plug and play that is not designed to do what you want it to.
I have all the Garmin map Cd's, I believe you could down load all the maps you want with them. PM me your Canadian tele number and a time to call and I'll call you, maybe we can work something out. Mike |
