Never heard of a tirfor but you can't go wrong with a Hi lift jack. I have used mine as a winch many times.

Having run a tirfor for a number of years I can vouch for its reliability.
Undeniably cheaper than power or electric winches and can winch from all sides and get it back on its feet in a rollover. I only carry it when I am going into areas I don't know on my own. Very slow because of manual system and extra length rope required. Otherwise just carry snatch strap. There are lightweight handpull winches available but you pay for what you get and I wouldn't trust them. Have carried the hilift but never used it for winching. It really gets back to what you feel comfortable with. |

Thank's for the info guys. The only qusetion is. Where can I get a Trifor? I was looking at a Warn winch, but being here in Hawaii it was not cost effective for what use I would get out of it. That is why I was looking more at a Trifor.

Try contacting any Rigging/hoist/scaffolding suppliers in your locality. If you have no success, you can contact Tractel INC wh oare the manufacturers of Tirfor hand winches. There West coast office on the mainland USA is in Baldwin Park, California. Tele:- 1/626.937.6727
BTW, they are called Griphoists or scaffold hoists in the US. Hope this helps.
