Through a unique set of circumstances I am going to have a Deluxe Size Tent 56" W x 96" L x 52" H.
Atlantic British catalogue says you need to have a special rack. I already have the standard Hannibal rack on the Disco and cannot afford to change it. Is anyone familiar enough with these to tell me if I am going to have challenges? I would prefer to mount it in the front so we do not have to crawl over everything, and so we do not have ladders set up over ladders. (Little things like that drive me nuts, sorry)I also was planning to utilize the sides of the rack for a future awning on the driver’s side. We already have the High Lift on the passenger and are converting a Wilderness shovel / ax mount for the rear. Lastly, I just received our Hannibal Double Jerry can holder. How would ya'll suggest it be mounted to the rack? You think Hannibal would supply directions and hardware. THX AGAIN See you at the ROAV Mid ATLTIC RALLY OCT 5 – 8 Michael |

Not 100% sure how the Hannibal mounts on to a roof rack but I recently used the Howling Moon roof tent when in Namibia.
Very easy to put up, however if using the front tent on a double tent set up, one has to have an extra pair of hands to catch the ladder when opening up the tent (not a problem when packing it though, easily a 1 man job). The ladder fitted on to the front bull bars Other option is to have the tent open to the side of the vehicle. You can see from the photo that we also had awnings on the vehicles. On my own Disco I have an Eezi Awn awning, easy enough to put up and take down single handed (if there is no wind)

Any Hannibal tent will fit any Hannibal rack. AB says that meaning you need a Hannibal rack to fit the deluxe tent. The regular size tent will fit some racks without too much modification, but the deluxe size tent fits best on a Hannibal rack.

I stated earlier we were waiting to receive a Deluxe Hannibal tent, as a gift.
It arrived!!!! Last night, my friend & I were able to mount it to my 'regular' size Hannibal rack over the Disco II. FYI, The tent and rack are the exact same width. So we did mount it to the front, opening over the hood. In order to do so we did have to reduce the length of the side railings, they now do not extend to the front half of the rack. The challenge I have is because the tent was used, and the zipper that secures the cover is broken on both front corners. Since it has two zipper pulls I can start one from each rear corner, (Above the rear of the front seats) and pull it forward. (To the outside corners of the windshield) This secures the sides but obviously leaves the front wide open. Open like a funnel driving into the wind unfortunately. My thought is to sew stops into the zippers on the sides that work so the pulls do not come off the tracks. (Once off, they may not go back on, the last one off took over 45 minutes to rethread it). Then I will remove the zipper that goes across the front, and replace it with a #10 separating tent zipper. I was able to search online and it appears I can have one made to order. The cost will be somewhere between $30 - $60. Expensive zipper, cheap fix. Does anyone have any comments and or suggestions??? I also am not excited about having to sew the new zipper on, but will do what I need to do. So if you see me at MAR next week, I will be the guy that wraps his Hannibal tent in a tarp to protect it from the elements, before wheeling. This is the first Hannibal tent I have seen in person. All before were in photos. They are awesum. We are truely blessed to havesuch a great gift, but would like to get it back to 100%.Thanx in advance for your commens and help. Michael |

If you've seen the LR Safety devices full length discovery roof rack, can you comment on how easy you think it would be to install on this roof rack instead of a hannibal roof rack?
Thx Jim
