Goofing off in the great white north.

Has anyone used uprated headlight bulbs? I was thinking about getting a set of Sylvania silverstars. They claim to be much brighter than stock and anything is better than what I have right now. How can they be brighter if they are the same 45/65 wattage as stock? I just need something a little brighter for street use as I can't use my hellas around town. I got 100w H3's in my foglights which helps but is irritating to oncoming traffic. At $36 a set, any info is appreciated.
Thanks

Ive got silverstars and I think that they are a bit brighter....definatly whiter so it seems much brighter because of the superior refraction of whiter light. They have also survived harsh trail jarring for 10 months. There are many more options for RRCs then DIIs though.
Search for it in a thread....there was a good one for RRC light options.

I've got PIAA Extreme White Plus bulbs on mine and they work like a charm!! I've got the stock D1 headlamps as well, which were slightly different to the Dii bezels, that help provide more light.

I have Silverstar bulbs in mine for now, and I installed relays on the headlights to allow them more power. When I convert to 4-bulb headlights this spring, I'll probably go to a true HID system

Nope, I didnt even touch my fog light since I cut my endcaps the day after I got my BrushBar, eliminating the use of the Fog Lights...BUT you CAN change the bulbs on the fog lights.

If you are interested, I have a pair of Wipac E-Code headlights with a pair of H-4 55/65 watt bulbs for auction on Ebay.
The lights were removed from a 1990 Range Rover and include the wiring adapters for the conversion. If you really want improvement install a relay, beef up the wiring and go with 55/100 watt bulbs. That is the setup I have been using for years. The only thing better that an E-Code headlights are HID's and they're going to cost you an awful lot more. If you are interested, I am willing to end the auction early for the right price. Contact me directly at paulgrant@mac.com if you want more info. |

I switched to Hella 80/100 and WOOOO are they good and bright. They are whire, not blue and after driving with them for 3 years in California, I have never had anyone flash at me while driving towards them. The high beams reall make a statement also. I didn't upgrade wiring or add relays and the wires run cool under that load.

Keptin, mine's DII. I just checked the PIAA bulbs. they do have the bulbs with the wire (H3). looks similar with the stock one but I just don't want to bet $75 on it.
