I'll start off by saying I was very unsatisfied with what was available along the lines of iPod mounts for the Discovery. The universal mounts look like a compilation of vises clamping and squeezing not to mention incredible bulk. Or they will occupy the cup holders limiting your cup holders to one. I wanted to avoid using the cup holder, avoid drilling additional holes in the dash, yet keep my iPod accessible. So I put pen to paper and decided to design my own. I utilized the hole (covered with a plug) by the drivers right knee for the mounting point. I designed the mount to use the arm band slots on the back of the silicone iPod cover to slide onto the mount. After making my template, I went to a local company that specializes in "custom displays" that uses CAD and a laser to cut acrylic. They took my template and idea and the result was exactly what I had envisioned.

A while back I designed a speaker enclosure for the jumpseat area in sides of the back of the disco. The production on those is very close. I designed an amplifier mount to compliment the enclosure design, and now I have come up with the iPod/mp3 player mount, they saved the design so if there is any demand, I can produce more. They cut a few for me in different colors and a few clear.
I have a website awaiting the production of the enclosures to go live with. So far I will offer: 1. Left and Right enclosures 2. Left and Right custom amplifier mounts (completely hidden) 3. The iPod/mp3 player mount. Here is the thread with the enclosures: Custom sub woofer enclosures for Discovery Last edited by Captain Ducman : 09-21-2007 at 04:54 AM. |

Sorry about the delayed response, I've been out at the Tucson Aerobatic Shootout in Tucson, AZ enjoying my other hobby...Giant Scale RC airplanes. Here's a link if anyone is interested:

The website has gone live a little prematurely, but feel free to check it out. The ipod mounts are ready for orders but the enclosures are not. The amp mount that installs where I drew the red arrow on the enclosures thread should be up later this week. www.landroverenclosures.com |
